The Hospice Experience From the Family’s Perspective

Many thanks to Barbara Lashua for sharing her family’s experience with Hospice!

Tuesdays In October – New Workshop Series

It’s About Living!

Tuesdays in October are for planning ahead for peace of mind.

Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley is offering a free series of workshops to help St. Lawrence County residents plan ahead for end of life issues.

Come for coffee and conversation with Funeral Directors to address funeral planning, create legacy letters to pass on your values to loved ones, and learn about the necessary documents needed to secure peace of mind for you and your family.

All sessions will be held at The Hospice Center on Route 11. There is no cost to attend, however pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

Please register by contacting Hospice at (315) 265-3105 or email
Mary Jones.

Both will be held at the Hospice Center, 6805 US Highway 11, Potsdam, NY.

All participants must pre-register for this free event by emailing Mary Jones by September 24th, 2018.

Corporate Memorial Pavers

In the photo below you will see the Garden’s centerpiece, a fountain, framed by a walkway embedded with 12 large (two feet by two feet) bluestone pavers. We refer to this portion of the Garden as our ‘Corporate Circle of Support’. Each of the 12 stones will be engraved with the name of the business and may include a message in support of Hospice care in our community and/or in memory or honor of a loved one associated with the business.  Gift Value: $2,000

All training sessions take place at the Hospice Center

Are you looking for a way to give back that fits your busy schedule? You’re in luck! – Volunteering for hospice offers flexibility and assignments are based on your time and geographic location.  Hospice volunteers provide support, compassion and relief to families and patients.  They are essential to the care provided each day. Whether they are helping families, lending companionship to a patient, working at one of our special events, or assisting with administrative duties, each minute contributes greatly to the organization’s mission.   Do you have a special interest?  Our Patient Enrichment programs offer volunteers an outlet to showcase their talent in a meaningful way.  Call Linda Caamaño at (315)265-3105 for more information!

Note: Individuals interested in volunteering indirectly will receive a different orientation/training process.  All interested individuals are subject to the same vetting process and background checks as Hospice employees.

Please register by Linda Caamaño, Volunteer Manager (lcaamano@hospiceslv.org) or call 315-265-3105.
